Tipton, Indiana

Guiding future development around the historic courthouse square and surrounding neighborhoods.

Challenged with renewed interest in their downtown, potential growth and underutilized buildings, the Town of Tipton, Indiana recognized the need to prepare a Downtown Revitalization Plan funded by the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs (OCRA) to guide future developments and improvements downtown, around the courthouse square and in the surrounding residential neighborhoods.

ARCHtrio, along with design team members from Rundell Ernstburger and Associates and SB Research and Planning developed an innovative planning document studying the community’s history, existing market and economic health of the community, building conditions, analysis of the commercial development opportunities, land use and existing building stock potential, green/open space needs, circulation, parking, and housing.  Once key goals were established, the team in partnership with the community and local stakeholders developed a downtown vision and action plan strategy for implementation.
