Report Preparation

The concept behind a Revitalization Plan is to form a framework that will energize a Historic Downtown & help it reach its full potential. Because a successful downtown has many moving parts, the planning process focuses on three key items: Building Restoration/ Historic Preservation; Streetscape/Urban Design & Market Analysis.

Local input including focus group meetings form the basis of the report. Discussions concentrates on needs versus wants, required versus desired along with budgetary restrictions. A thorough assessment of existing infrastructure, building exteriors, structural integrity & business types is conducted  along with research into local history & significance.

The final document provides revitalization strategies in two key areas: physical design & economic development. The plan can act as a tool for future projects, offer design guidelines & suggestions for facade improvements as well as how to secure grants & funding.
